Who am I?
Hello! Thanks for looking at my work page!

I’m Olley Neale, I’ve been repairing stringed instruments for over 10 years.

I realised I loved repairing and building when I was a young boy and this lead me to seek out a repair man, I met Dave Roper and was inspired to seriously research and understand how to repair/build and maintain stringed instruments.

Fast forward almost 20 years and I’m where I am now 🙂

I have a passion for instruments, I love taking an instrument and making it work better then when I received it, I have a vast experience in working on guitars, basses and acoustics.

I keep the owners up to date with the progress as I work, I try and take photos to show my working and am always happy to talk through any issues people are having.

Guitars may just be tools for you to express yourself but I believe everyone should have their tools in top shape so they can get to creating and playing what they love and not fighting with a guitar.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions or what you may think are silly questions, there are no silly questions and I’m always happy to talk shop as I really do love it. 🙂

What do you offer?
I offer a variety of services including; setups, rewiring, pickup installation, pot and jack replacement, refretting, fret leveling/crowning and much more, I have a full list of prices for the most common work, please contact me if you have a problem that’s not listed

Why do I need a set up or check up?
When buying a guitar from a shop or factory 90% of the time they have been checked and set up before being released from the factory, this could be thousands of miles away in a very different environment from the UK, meaning the guitar would have lost any benefit from the initial set up, to get the best out of your instrument it is recommended to take it to a guitar tech to set up and check over, it may only need a simple job but it makes all the difference when playing.

If you have a badly set up guitar it will directly effect your playing and enjoyment of the instrument, guitar builders expect you to take your guitars to a guitar tech to have them set up to your own preferences.

Guitars will change from year to year so it is good that have them set up and checked out at least once a year, leaving a problem too long could damage the instrument beyond repair.
